"STERLING" Grathlyn & Moutere Bloodlines

Welcome to Bliss Ranch Majestic Merinos. Thank you for your interest in my Merinos. I am a handspinner and have been breeding registered Merino sheep for almost 30 years now. Ultrafine Merino sheep grow the finest wool in the world, finer than any other sheep can grow. Merinos grade from 64s to 70s (19.15 to 22.04 microns) these are called Fine. Grade 80s are (17.70 to 19.14 microns) these are called Superfine. And then there are finer than 80s (under 17.70) these are called Ultrafine. Merinos also come in a coarser wool, so beware: Not all Merinos are created equal! I have chosen to breed my Merinos to micron in the Ultrafine range (14.0 to 17.70 microns). These Merinos are the finest micron flock in the USA. My colored Merinos will micron in the 16.0 and under range. It is much more difficult to get the micron down on colored fleece. My micron tests are done on adult Merinos. I know of a breeder who claims to have 13.0 micron Merino fleeces, comes to find out he is micron testing baby lambs. Another lesson, know your breeder. My colored Merinos have colors to die for, like Chocolate/Taupe and varying shades of grey and Grey/Taupe. I personally developed these Colored Merinos, and they do not contain any other Merino breeders bloodlines, It has taken 15 years to stabilize these colors. Bigger, such as large numbers, isn't always better, especially when it comes to animal breeding. It prompts a breeder to keep everything, with no culling or castrating or very little of it. We all know that NOT all animals are automatically breeding stock. Lack of space (I only have 5 acres) prompted me to keep my flock small, keeping only the best of the best, even when I used the top Australian bloodlines, I castrated over half of the resulting offspring. I only maintain about 20 Ewes and 10 or less Rams of various ages. I only sell the kind of animals that I, myself would breed. I don't show my sheep anymore in order to maintain a closed flock status. I think health issues are more important than Ribbons, and my clients certainly agree... Also, no new animals are brought on to the property, I use my own Rams. I do however, show my fleeces. The barn and Wool Store proudly display the Trophies, Plaques, Champion Ribbons and special awards. Bliss Ranch Merinos has proudly utilized these fine New Zealand bloodlines-- GRATHLYN, GLENLEIGH, MOUTERE, and MERRYVILLE. These Rams are unrelated to each other and are among the finest, most valuable Rams in the world. Besides having a closed flock, my sheep are routinely wormed and vaccinated and are on the volunteer scrapie program. All Merinos are individually micron tested. Rams are available on a limited basis. Ewes are available, but are put on a waiting list. My colored Merinos carry the same quality and bloodlines as my white Merinos, and availability is even more limited, but are more than worth the wait. Lambing usually happens in December. I start getting orders as early as January. ALL MY MERINO SALES ARE GUARANTEED. When you purchase Merino sheep from me, you are also buying my many years of selective breeding and continuing support.

Ram Lambs are always available. Ewe Lambs are put on a waiting list. (They sell out fast) Rams prices start at $500.00 to $1,500.00. They average at $1,000.00 for both Colored and White

Ewe Lambs prices start at $900.00 to $1,500.00. Prices are determined by fleece finess, for both Rams and Ewes, White or Colored.

Free Ram for a limited time only, with the purchase of 2 or more ewes, you will get 1 free ram. White or Colored (my choice) of Ram, your choice of color.
